The Allan Labor Government is supporting schools to meet growing demand with 12 new state-of-the-art multi-storey classrooms to be constructed in 2026 – making sure every student gets a great education close to home.

Member for Melton Steve McGhie today announced Thornhill Park Primary School is one of nine schools to receive 4 new double-storey classrooms as part of the Labor Government’s $148.4 million investment through the Modular Classrooms Program.

The multi-storey building will provide capacity for an extra 100 students at the school.

The multi-storey classrooms incorporate the latest innovations to provide teachers and students with modern learning environments.

They feature double-glazed windows and improved insulation to reduce heat loss, special wall and ceiling linings to reduce internal noise reverberation, energy efficient design and internal block out blinds.

The eight other schools to receive new multi-storey classrooms include Bemin Secondary College, Bentleigh West Primary School, Chelsea Primary School, Doveton College, Garrang Wilam Primary School, Karwan Primary School, Marnebek School Cranbourne, and Ngarri Primary School - providing capacity for an extra 915 students statewide.

The 12 new classrooms will be installed and open for students in population growth areas by Term 2 next year.

These classrooms are in addition to the 54 multi-storey modular buildings which were already allocated in August and will be delivered to 30 schools in time for the 2026 school year – improving capacity for an extra 5,450 students in total across the state.

The Labor Government is investing in the Education State so every Victorian child has access to world-class education at a school with bright, modern learning spaces.

We are building on our record-breaking investment in school infrastructure delivering $18.5 billion for 123 new government schools and more than 2,300 upgrades – creating over 92,000 extra places for growing communities.
