The Allan Labor Government is making sure students at two Melton schools get a great education close to home – supporting the schools to meet growing enrolments with modern new learning facilities.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Education today announced that two of Melton’s government schools will be receiving modern makeovers as part of the Victorian Budget 2025/26.
Melton South Primary School received $21.3 million for a new double-storey administration, wellness and learning centre. We are also upgrading the main classroom wing and historic old school house to give students and staff better learning and workspaces.
Kurunjang Secondary College received $10.7m to upgrade and modernise the school, delivering a new learning building to give students better learning spaces.
Melton Primary School will also sharing in $10 million for planning a future upgrades.
The Allan Labor Government is also building a brand-new secondary school in Cobblebank, set to open its doors on the first day of Term 1. Cobblebank Secondary School (interim name) will enrol up to 865 students, including 65 students with disabilities, when the school is complete.
The Victorian Budget 2025/26 is ensuring students right across the state have the learning spaces they need to thrive, with $342 million invested in school maintenance, and $25 million for small-scale projects via the Capital Works Fund.
This Budget is also planning for the future of our growing state with a further $10 million to go towards planning upgrades at 20 schools across Victoria.
Other investments for new schools in this year’s Budget include $411 million to fund new and expanded schools with new schools in Aintree and Officer set to open in 2027.
A further $237 million has been allocated to purchase land for new schools and campuses and an additional $1 million will fund a feasibility study for a maths and science school in Melbourne’s north-west.
The Labor Government has invested $18.5 billion over the past 11 years to deliver more than 2,300 school upgrades and 123 new schools.
